Description
With the self-adhesive acoustic foams QSC7 (smooth) and QSC15 (convoluted), ESX offers additional possibilities to significantly improve the interior acoustics of vehicles. Acoustic foams are recommended in addition to the use of aluminium butyl mats. While aluminium butyl mats mainly ensure the damping of vibrations or resonances of sheet metal parts in doors or in the trunk thanks to their high mass, acoustic foams in cavities or smooth surfaces ensure additional optimization of the acoustics in the passenger compartment thanks to their sound-absorbing properties. The narrow space in the vehicle or smooth surfaces in particular cause many reflections or background noises that have a disruptive effect on the sound.
The 7 mm thick smooth QSC7 can be compressed to just one millimetre. This means that the acoustic foam can even be glued to interior door panels. When reinstalling the panel, the foam keeps the door slightly under tension, providing additional security. The 15 mm thick QSC15 convoluted foam is often used where exposed sheet metal or problematic vehicle parts need to be acoustically insulated, such as in the boot. Particularly where large subwoofers cause vehicle parts to vibrate, aluminium butyl in combination with acoustic foam is particularly useful. QSC ESX acoustic foams have a self-adhesive layer on the back, making them ideal for securing cables or loose structural elements, such as those often found in doors.
