Increasingly, 16.5 cm woofers are being integrated into the front doors, but also very large speakers with a diameter of 20 cm. The simple principle "more cone surface = more bass" also applies here. The new 8-inch ESX woofers from the QUANTUM QXE series deliver powerful bass from the doors. They are compatible with the standard 20 cm adapters of many car models, such as VW, Audi, and even Tesla.

Since conventional 20 cm woofers with ferrite magnets are too heavy and deep for door mounting, ESX has designed a 20 cm bass-midrange driver with a neodymium motor. With a low installation depth of 57 mm and a light weight of 542 grams, it is particularly suitable for door mounting. In addition to its high-quality fiberglass cone, it has another special feature: the neodymium magnet is mounted at the front of the speaker frame, not at the rear as usual. This saves installation depth and optimizes the center of gravity.

The soft tweeter, already present on the QXE6.2C V2 , is also present in the new 20 cm model. A glance at the measured values reveals the potential of this excellent 25 mm neodymium soft tweeter: it displays a frequency response worthy of a ruler, effortlessly reproducing well above 24,000 Hz. Tip: The grille is removable together with the housing thanks to a metric thread, which considerably reduces the space required (for example, when installing in a mirror triangle). An ABS housing is included for surface mounting. A 12 dB inline filter, optimized for this system, takes care of the filtering
