Although HiFonics AluButyl mats are mainly suitable for quieting easily vibrating or resonating sheet metal parts behind door panels or other areas of the vehicle due to their high mass and internal density, the installation of acoustic foams is also recommended to further increase the sound through better sound absorption in the interior.
With the ZEUS ZSQ7 and ZSQ15, HiFonics offers two foams in different thicknesses that optimize the interior acoustics of vehicles. The material can be compressed down to 1 or 2 mm and is therefore very easy to process. Depending on the application, it dampens sheet metal or can hold surfaces and parts that tend to vibrate under tension, like a shock absorber. For example, an additional layer of foam can be glued to the AluButyl recommended for door panels between the door panel and the panel to improve the acoustics. Tailgates or rear parcel shelves are often delivered without additional coating from the factory and tend to reflect sound. The 15 mm thick, honeycomb ZSQ15 is particularly suitable for bonding. Both ZSQ foams are self-adhesive, making them ideal for securing loose cables.
